PCIA x The Marketplace

For July 2024, PCIA gathered local chocolates from all over the Philippines and had it displayed and sold at The Marketplace, one of the premiere supermarkets in the Philippines. The Marketplace gave PCIA one whole shelf space for local chocolates to champion local cacao products and local cacao farmers.

This apportunity gave local chocolate makers an additional avenue to market and sell their products to a broader market with wider distribution.

Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing of PCIA Inc. and TESDA

On August 24, 2023, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and PCIA Inc. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to reinforce the country's technical vocational education and training (TVET) particularly on the Agriculture Sector-Cacao Subsector.

PCIA Inc. Civil Society Organization (CSO) National Level Accreditation

On September 27, 2023, the Department of Agriculture issued a Certificate of Accreditation at the National Level to PCIA Inc. as com-implementor/beneficiary in the implementation of agriculture programs. 

PUM International Cacao Expert Henk Dekker visits the Philippines

Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao cacao stakeholders was visited by PUM International Cacao Expert Mr. Henk Dekker where he shared his expertise regarding the cacao market trends. This visit is hosted and organized by the PCIA Inc. Borad Members.

Continuing Education

The PCIA is always on the forefront of the latest technologies and learnings with regards to cacao production and cacao post-harvest techniques.

Cacao Planting Suitability Map

The Philippines is ideally situated 20 degrees of the equator, that makes it suitable for growing cacao trees. However, other factors, like weather and soil must be taken into consideration in order to maximize the production from the cacao trees.

Philippine Cacao Quality Award

Every other year, the PCIA holds the Philippine Cacao Quality Awards. Winning entries in the Philippine Cacao Quality Award are sent to compete in the international Cocoa Excellence Awards.

Since 2017, the Philippines has an entry that is recognized as one of the Top 50 Best Cacao Beans by the Cocoa Excellence Awards committee.
